One Day I’ll Grow Up

One day I’ll grow up (.!?)
And when I do

I’ll become a famous actor
seen on screens across the world
watched on the biggest stages on Broadway
and even little, local, divey theaters.

I’ll become an astronaut
and fly to the moon
and be the first to colonize Mars
and discover a new star.

I’ll be an incredible athlete
and win championships, trophies, and titles
be in the hall of fame
and have endorsement deals for all the coolest gear.

I’ll be an epic inventor
and create something totally new
a feet of engineering
that helps the world.

I’ll be a great leader
so, I can feed, clothe and house people
and make speeches that are remembered for the ages
and leave a legacy for more than a thousand years.

I’ll be a sought-after artist
with awe inspiring work in galleries and museums
for onlookers to see
and critics to gawk.

I’ll be a jubilant farmer
so, I can feed my family and friends
with delicious, healthful food —
regenerative organic of course.

I’ll be an ivy league mathematician
and geek out on numbers and equations
proofs and algorithms
that create meaning in our world.

I’ll be a shrewd businessman
a ceo, an owner and entrepreneur
out maneuvering the competition
and counting my stacks & stacks of cash.

I’ll be a writer
NY Times bestseller
with book tours
and quoted on social media.

I’ll be in the circus
trapezing through the air,
juggling and taming wild animals
to the applause of an amused crowd.

I’ll be a doctor
and save lives,
help people heal
and find a cure for cancer.

I’ll be me
the best possible version
just a little bit bigger
and a little bit wrinklier.

Actually,
Now that I think about it
Nah…
I won’t do that growing up thing
I don’t think it’s for me.
